LMA Ebrahim Hosain has vast experience in advising and providing counsel on major power projects, including hydel power projects, coal-based power projects, LNG-based power projects and wind power projects.

We hold the distinction of being involved in the first ever LNG project in Pakistan and is the only law firm in Pakistan which has advised on the entire LNG supply chain.

Our lawyers were engaged to advice on the establishment of Pakistan’s first LNG terminal at Port Qasim, Karachi and have developed expertise in the procurement of LNG re-gasification and storage services as well as the negotiation and drafting of agreements with LNG operators/contractors and ancillary agreements with lenders and relevant authorities. In addition to being the only local firm with end to end experience in LNG re-gasification terminals, our lawyers have been involved in the negotiation and drafting of agreements between Sui Southern Gas Company Limited and the designated buyers of LNG and gas transporters under the LNG Policy 2011.

We were also engaged by Sui Southern Gas Company Limited for its second LNG terminal. The assignment involved advising the gas company on the request for proposal (RFP), the relevant bidding documents and on the bidding process in light of the public procurement laws.

Our firm is currently engaged to advise, negotiate and assist a Government nominated entity in respect of two upcoming LNG import terminals at Port Qasim, Karachi.

The firm has also advised a foreign law firm in relation to the acquisition of twenty percent (20%) shareholding by a Chinese company in a hydel power project in Pakistan, which included the preparation of an extensive and detailed due diligence report covering all aspects of the target company, including company related details, shareholding structure, status of compliance with all laws, concession and project documents, material agreements and technical contracts (including regulatory approvals and permissions), land related documentation and preliminary financial documents in respect of the project.
